Joan Peñarroy’s words after Barça’s defeat to Olympiacos
Joan Penarroya appeared at a press conference after Barça will end its five-game winning streak in the EuroLeague with a visit to Olympiacos. The Greek team showed dominance and had a great week, beating the Blaugranas as well as Real Madrid.
Press conference of Joan Peñarroya after the defeat to Olympiacos:
“Congratulations to Olympiacos. Today they played better than us on both sides of the court. They had more energy on defense and rebounding. “We couldn’t control the rebound on our rim and ended up playing our worst game of the season.”
“Lapro’s injury is important for us, but the market is very difficult at the moment. We have 13 players, and what will happen in the future… I don’t know.
“In our defensive work, we were always late. In all actions: in blocking situations, defensive rebounds… Against Olympiacos, in Piraeus, we must play 100% in energy situations. Otherwise it is impossible to compete. As for our attack, we had a bad shot from the outside. We tried some good shots but with poor percentage. The defensive and physical level of Olympiacos is important, they are a strong team. Today we did not play a good attack, side to side, with passes. “We need to pass the ball more.”
“This is a dramatic situation for the people of Valencia, for the city and the Community. This is terrible news and this is a terrible disaster. I offer my condolences to everyone and hope that in the future these special situations can be better resolved as time goes on.
