Since July 6, the city’s health authorities Cambodia 2 cases reported bird flu A(H5N1), both cohabiting and associated with dead poultry.
In 2024, 7 cases were registered, including 1 fatality. In 3 of them, the hoard was confirmed. 2.3.21v.
Globally, 894 human cases and 463 deaths from influenza A(H5N1) have been reported from 2003 to 22 May 2024 in 24 countries. No sustained human-to-human transmission has been detected. The risk of transmission to the general population in the EU/EEA is considered low, with the exception of occupationally exposed groups such as farmers and poultry slaughter workers, who are considered low to medium.

- The virus, endemic to birds, is excreted in large quantities in feces. Although the risk to travelers is minimal, it is advisable to avoid direct contact with birds or their excreta. Well-cooked chicken does not transmit the virus.
