Kaitlyn Dever Announces Mother’s Death After Cancer Battle in Tribute – Hollywood Life

Kaitlyn Dever is mourning the death of her mother Katie Dever, who passed away after a 14-year battle with breast cancer.
Kaitlyn Dever shared the tragic news that her mother Katie Dever died of breast cancer on February 21. The 27-year-old actress posted a heartbreaking tribute to her mom with recent and throwback photos of the couple. Caitlyn also wrote an emotional message in which she called Katie her “life” and “everything.”
“I don’t even have words,” Book Shop – the star began her signature. “Nothing I will ever say will compare to the gifts you have given me in my life, the boundless joy you have brought, the deep, endless, unconditional love you have given to me and our family. Your love was everywhere. In the morning he had coffee with you and shopped for real estate, he sat by the pool, ate watermelon (with salt, of course) and listened to Willie Nelson, he lay in your bed and you watched Seinfeld and listen to your infectious laugh as you quote every line from memory. It was mocking each other. “He wanted to tell you about my day, get you the best advice anyone would be lucky enough to get, he would go anywhere with you because no matter where we were…we had fun and laughed.”
Caitlin continued, “Your love was like sunshine, it warmed me when I needed it most and made me smile when I was sad. You were everyone’s favorite. You are my Love. The sweetest in the world. Without you, I will forever be broken and I don’t know how I will live on. I am grateful that you gave me Mady, Jane and Dad… thanks to you we will always read each other. You were the best mom and wife anyone could ask for. Thank you for fighting for us for so long. “I am forever, forever grateful for the special time we had with you sweet mother… it will never be enough.”
“I miss your smile, your sense of humor, your hugs, your kisses, being able to hold your hand more than anything,” the Emmy nominee continued in her heartbreaking post. “You made everything better. My sweetest, most beautiful girl. My best friend. Oh how much I love you. What a gift it is to love you. I love you forever and ever, mom. ❤️.”
Caitlyn received a ton of support from other celebrities in the comments section dedicated to her mom. In 2020, Caitlin revealed that her mom battled stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for ten years. She opened up about her mom’s health battle in an Instagram post during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“She was diagnosed at 39 and every day since then has been a terrifying battle,” Caitlin said at the time. “Some days are so scary I don’t even know what to feel, and other days she has a positive appointment and then it’s a good day. Every day is different and we got through it together as a family.”
A month before her mother’s death, it was announced that Caitlin would star in the second season of the hit HBO series. Last of us. She landed the role of Abby, a character from the popular video game on which the series is based.
