Kaitlyn Dever’s mother dies after battle with breast cancer

Kaitlyn Dever’s mother, Katie Dever, has died after a 14-year battle with breast cancer.

On Wednesday, the 27-year-old young star wrote a tribute to her mother along with a carousel of images on Instagram, remembering her as “sunshine” and “the sweetest thing in the world.”

“I don’t even have words,” Dever said in the post. “Nothing I will ever say will compare to the gifts you have given me in my life, the boundless joy you have brought, the deep, endless, unconditional love you have given to me and our family. Your love was everywhere. It was in the morning, drinking coffee with you and shopping for real estate, he was sitting by the pool, eating watermelon (with salt, of course) and listening to Willie Nelson, he was lying in your bed, and you were watching Seinfeld

and listening to your infectious laughter as you repeated each line from memory, it was poking fun at each other.”

“Your love was like sunshine,” Dever continued, “warming me when I needed it most and making me smile when I was sad. You were everyone’s favorite. You are my Love. The sweetest in the world. I will be broken. forever without you, and I don’t know how to live on.” Dever also thanked her mother for “fighting for us for so long.” She added: “You made everything better. My sweetest, most beautiful girl. My best friend. Oh how much I love you. What a gift it is to love you. I love you forever and ever, Mom.”

In October 2020, Dever revealed that her mother had been battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for 10 years. The matriarch was diagnosed at age 39, “and every day since, it’s been a horrifying battle,” Dever shared at the time. “Every day is different and we got through this together as a family,” she said, calling her mother “the strongest woman I know.”

In addition to Kaitlyn, Katie Dever is survived by two daughters, Madi and Jane, and husband Tim.

Dever, best known for her roles in the film Book Shop and mini-series Incrediblejust recently appeared in the series intoxicating and films Ticket to heaven, next goal wins, And Sadness for good. She will next appear in the series Last of us Ace Abby.
