Kate Beckinsale visited the hospital immediately after the Golden Globes
Kate Beckinsale went to the hospital immediately after Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony.
Along with a series of photos from the red carpet and awards ceremony, the Underworld and Pearl Harbor actress shared photos of herself sitting in a hospital room, still wearing her crystal-encrusted Atelier Zuhra gown, and munching burgers with several others as they surround the patient’s bed. “The 2024 Golden Globes are coming to an end,” she captioned the post.
Beckinsale did not disclose the reason for her visit to the hospital. On Wednesday morning, she published another post, which featured a black square without a caption. The cryptic post raised concerns among her followers about the health of her stepfather, British TV director Roy Battersby, who was hospitalized in December after suffering a stroke, according to the Daily Mail. He was also diagnosed with two forms of cancer, the publication reported.
In August, while reporting the death of Clive, her social media-famous cat, Beckinsale also posted photos from the hospital showing an unnamed elderly man undergoing scans and other procedures.
“Combine grief, illness and fear with as much life, laughter and celebration as possible,” she captioned the photos, adding, “Fight with everything you have for your loved ones.”
A representative for Beckinsale did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.
During the Golden Globes, Beckinsale and Don Cheadle presented the award for her performance to actress Lily Gladstone, the first Indigenous woman to receive the award at the ceremony.
Sunday’s show marked a new chapter for the Globes after a 2021 Times investigation into the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s failures and ethical shortcomings on diversity and a boycott by publicists nearly killed the show. Once known as Hollywood’s biggest party, it was the first major awards ceremony to take place in Los Angeles since the end of the double strike by writers and actors. The industry cheered the celebration as celebrities packed out the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the ceremony and the nearby Spago for the Netflix party.
Beckinsale briefly attended the post-show festivities before heading to the hospital. Also in attendance was fellow actress Alyssa Milano, who commented on Beckinsale’s post: “So nice to see you last night and spend a few minutes with you at the Netflix party!”
Most recently, Beckinsale appeared in Charlie Day’s directorial debut, the satirical comedy Stupid’s Paradise. She will also star in the upcoming action film Black Canary, directed by Pierre Morel, known for Taken, From Paris with Love and Peppermint. Beckinsale will play a CIA agent trying to rescue her kidnapped husband.
