Kiké Hernández starter SS Red Sox, according to Cora

After the unfortunate news offered by the Red Sox Tuesday, regarding Trevor Story’s elbow surgery, which would sideline him for four to six months, manager alex cora has given an important clue around which of his players is shaping up to be the Boston starting shortstop in the 2023 season.
If they don’t sign an available shortstop in free agency or acquire someone else on the trade market, Cora said the club is in talks with Kike Hernandezsince they would consider it the virtual substitute for Story in short stops.
If Hernández starts the next tournament as a shortstop, Jarren Duran would be in charge of defending center field, while second base would go to Christian Arroyo.
According to various sources, the Red Sox would have a serious interest in exercising a trade with the Miami Marlins, with the aim of playing the role of shortstop.
Other options in free agency are the Venezuelans: César Hernández, Rougned Odor, Elvis Andrus, the Dominican Jonathan Villar, the Cuban José Iglesias and the American Josh Harrison.
