With the aim of promoting equal opportunities, improving the quality of life and responding to the emerging needs of society, ‘La Caixa’ Foundation is once again launching a call for social projects, for which it will allocate a total of 521,700 euros . , Aid that will be directed to selected projects of 20 associations that will promote the work carried out by the third sector in the Principality and which will allow to serve more than 3,600 Asturians in vulnerable situations.
In this edition, all selected projects fall into one of these six areas of action: poverty and social inclusion, people with disabilities or mental disorders, social-labour inclusion, health and illness, older people and social action.
Irene Agudo, representative of the ‘La Caixa’ Foundation in Asturias and Cantabria, said a regional model that the foundation launched two years ago allows them “to be closer to people and nonprofits in vulnerable situations in each region ” , during the presentation of the call.
Specifically, the entities selected are: identified by and for them; King Aurelio Mentally Handicapped Association; Caritas Coopera; Asturian Association of Multiple Sclerosis; Latrebede Women’s Association; Mar de Niebla Social Action Foundation; Parkinson Jovellanos of the Principality of Asturias; Lure Association; Asperger Association Asturias; AdSys Foundation; Spanish Solidarity Center Foundation Principality of Asturias; El Patiu Association; F5 Factory Association Delegation of Asturias; L’Abeyra Cultural Association; Parkinson Asturias; Caritas Diocesana of Oviedo; Friends Against Drugs Association; ES Retina Association; The Association of Parents and Friends of Congenital Heart Disease, and the Association of Patients with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome of the Principality.
Since launching in 1999, the Foundation’s Call for Social Projects has promoted nearly 400 projects in the principality, contributing 7.7 million euros and serving more than 76,000 people.
