La Lonja will host a new edition of the Health Fair

Health Advisor Irene Celdran presented this morning the new edition of the Health Fair, which will take place on October 25 and 26 at La Lonja Auditorium.

Starting at 9:00, the doors of Orihuela schools will open, where Crec psychologists Sofia Cerezo and Enrique Luis will give lectures on the topic “Self-care for our mental health.” In addition, “information booths will be set up for the various associations and groups that have joined this fair, to which we are grateful for their cooperation,” as stated by Councilor Irene Celdran.

Thus, among the participants in this new edition organized by the Ministry of Health, the following stand out: Department of Health of Orihuela, Public Health Center of Orihuela, Spanish Association Against Cancer, Social Group ONCE, Vega Baja Acoge, UPCCA Orihuela, UPCCA Bigastro, ADIEM, AFA Miguel Hernandez , Mas Vida, ACECOVA, Red Cross, Association of Diabetics of Orihuela and Comarca and ACAD Renacer.

Among the events that will be held during the two days of the fair by participating associations and groups you will find: consultations on celiac disease; capillary blood glucose tests, blood pressure measurements, information on healthy habits for better diabetes control and prevention of type 2 diabetes; information on HIV/AIDS prevention, distribution of prevention materials (condoms), “The Red Cross is Listening to You,” information on telemedicine, and an ambulance display.

Additionally, in addition to the Science for All session, there will be a sensory session called “The B Side of Immigration” and an opportunity to try on glasses that simulate the vision of a drunk person. Condoms will be distributed and voluntary breathalyzer and drug testing will be administered. As a pre-diagnosis tool, a balance test and a memory test will also be carried out, among other measures.

Vaccination points

Other highlights in this edition will be the COVID and flu vaccination sites (medical card required) at the Rabaloch and Alvarez de la Riva health centers respectively, as well as the presence of an information sheet on managing cardiovascular risk factors, a smoking cessation chart and workshops in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Among the new things this year, Celdran highlighted that “on Friday afternoon we will have the presence of pediatric nurse Armando Bastida with his talk “Parenting with Common Sense” with free admission until seats are filled, starting at 6:30 p.m. .

Finally, the Health Advisor invited “all Oriolanos to come to the Health Fair and learn about the daily work of each association and group, while they will be offered information to help them form healthy habits.”
