Android mobile phone users should be very careful about what is happening with WhatsApp on their device. A group of phones are constantly being blocked from accessing the app, mainly due to security and privacy updates released by the platform that they are incompatible with.

For phones running Google’s operating system, Android versions 4.1 or lower will no longer be able to use the meta app. This means that cell phones released since 2012 no longer have the technical specifications to support this platform.

However, users will be able to access other applications and use the device as normal. In the case of WhatsApp, they will no longer have compatibility and will have to find an alternative to continue communicating with their family and friends.

Among the mobile phones that will be excluded from WhatsApp starting in July are many models from different brands, such as Samsung, LG, Huawei and Lenovo. These devices, due to outdated versions of the operating system, will not be able to receive the necessary updates for further optimal use of the application.

If you have one of the phones mentioned and want to continue using WhatsApp after July 2024, It is recommended to consider the following actions:

  • Make sure your phone meets the minimum operating system requirements specified by WhatsApp.
  • If possible, check to see if there are any updates available for your device. On Android, you can do this by opening the Settings or Preferences app and finding the Software Update section. On iOS, go to Settings, then General, and select Software Update.
  • If your phone can’t receive operating system updates or doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, consider purchasing a new device that supports the latest versions of iOS or Android.
  • If you don’t change your phone, there are other apps similar to WhatsApp that may work, such as Telegram or Signal. However, you should make sure they are compatible and ask your contacts to also use them to continue communicating with them.
  • Make a backup as soon as possible. This will prevent you from losing your recent chats. This is an ideal solution for those who are planning to change their mobile phone and want to save their conversation history.
