Maduro is the past, we have already defeated him

Maturín (Venezuela) (EFE).- Chavista opposition leader María Corina Machado said this Saturday during a campaign activity in the northeast of Venezuela, in front of thousands of people whom she asked to vote for Edmundo González Urrutia in the presidential election scheduled for July 28. , that the president and candidate for re-election, Nicolás Maduro, “is in the past” because “defeats” occurred in every corner of the country.

“There is not a single corner of the country left, in any part of Venezuela, (…) a moral defeat has already occurred, a spiritual defeat, a political defeat, because today all of Venezuela is convinced that we are going to win, he told EFE about the opposition during a visit to the city of Maturin, Monagas state, where, while passing by, the unanimous cry of “This shows, it seems, Edmundo President” could be heard.

Even the state security forces are not with Maduro

He assured that the officers of the State Security Forces are also not in favor of Maduro, despite the fact that, following orders, they are in charge of trying to block the path of the opposition when they move around the country during the electoral campaign, so “they are aware of the corruption of the system.”

“They have blocked the roads with checkpoints (checkpoints), with armed gangs, they have broken up the roads, they have thrown dirt so that people cannot get there, and absolutely all of them, we have overcome all the obstacles, (…) they cannot do it. People are willing to open all avenues, peacefully, in a civil way, to assert this unstoppable desire for change that has emerged in Venezuela,” he reiterated.

EFE confirmed that, on each visit by Machado to any state in the country, his caravan must overcome various roadblocks and obstacles before reaching its destination, including – as in the case of Maturín’s visit on Friday night – the projection of rotten eggs. No more than a dozen people attempted to block the road.

Machado recalls the “attack” in Barquisimeto

In addition, Machado recalled the “attack” she suffered on Thursday morning, while returning from an event in the nearby region of Portuguesa and spending the night in Barquisimeto, in the state of Lara (northwest), when two vehicles in which she and her family were traveling “vandalized” their equipment, one of them with “cutting the brake hose” and another with draining the engine oil.

“This week they crossed the red line with the attack we suffered in Barquisimeto. They threatened me but they never did anything like this. This is supposed to create a lot of fear, especially in our teams, but what they have achieved is exactly the opposite. People are angry and react more strongly, ”he explained.

On the other hand, he said that “for there to be a war there must be enemies, and in Venezuela there are no enemies” because “everyone” wants “the same thing”, a “peaceful country” so that those who have fled due to the economic and political crisis can “return home”.

According to polls, besides González Urrutia and Maduro, eight other candidates are competing for the presidency in these elections who have no realistic chance of winning.
