Maduro says, “We will win by any means” – DW – 02/04/2024

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who is expected to run for the third time in this year’s presidential elections, assured in Caracas this Sunday (02/04/2024) that he will win “by any means”.

“The team wins. We will win no matter what,” Maduro said at an event marking the 32nd anniversary of the failed Feb. 4, 1992 coup against former President Carlos Andres Perez and led by the late Hugo. Chávez, of whom Maduro is the designated successor.

“Whenever they give it to us, however they give it to us (the elections), people are organized to win,” he assured.

According to an agreement signed between the regime and the opposition in Barbados in October, the elections were to be held in the second half of 2024 in the presence of international observers.

Furthermore, the Justice should allow potential candidates like María Corina Machado to appeal their disqualification. However, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) confirmed his disqualification last week.

As a result, the United States announced that in April it would reinstate oil and gas sanctions that it had suspended following the Barbados agreement.
