Mamma Mia 3 Potential Release Date, Cast, Songs and More
Mamma Mia! 3 not officially confirmed, but not all hope is lost.
Producer Judy Craymer gave fans the latest news, declaring that the threequel is “happening.”
“I’m so busy with everything that I can only do so much. So the TV show was a big priority. I’m sure (the third film) will come out. I’m in a privileged position because I own Universal Studios. I want to do it, who I like to work with, and I have a storyline,” Kramer said Diversity.
In December 2022 Mamma Mia! Here we go again Writer-director Ol Parker reiterated that Craymer is “always planning to do a trilogy,” which is promising.
“The first one made a huge amount of money, and I think we made a decent amount of money too,” he explained. “I know there is a need for a third and I know she has a plan. Wouldn’t that be great?
Back in July 2020, Cramer revealed that she was close to saying “yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes” to a third film. “I had to deal with it in my head all these months. But then the fog of COVID hit me,” she recalls.
In May 2022, Amanda Seyfried reported with disappointment that no one had spoken to her about Mamma Mia! 3, but she still hoped that they would succeed. Christine Baranski said the same thing in January 2022.
As for Lily James, who played young Donna in the sequel, she was “desperate” to wait until the third film was released.
Us too, Lily, us too.
But while we wait for something official, here’s everything you need to know about the potential Mamma Mia! 3.
Mamma Mia 3 Potential Release Date: When will Mamma Mia 3 be released?
YesSince the third film has not been officially confirmed, we don’t have a release date yet, but we can make some guesses.
The previous two films came out in July, so it’s unlikely they’ll move away from this one, which also means we can probably rule out waiting to see the threequel in July 2024 – unless filming was done in secret. We wish!
Only about a year passed between the start of filming and the film’s release in the first two films in the series. So if production on the third film does begin in 2024, we could see it in July 2025. Maybe.
For now, however, we’ll just have to wait to see Mamma Mia! 3 will even be confirmed before we get too excited about the release.
Mamma Mia 3 cast: who will return to Mamma Mia 3?
If a third film is confirmed, we don’t think they’ll have a hard time getting the cast back together, so expect to see all your favorites again.
Amanda Seyfried has changed her mind about whether there will be a third film from “I don’t fucking think so” to “beyond yes,” even if she’s not sure there are enough ABBA songs left to make it work.
In June 2023, she said there was “a lot of talk,” but jokingly added, “I just don’t think Universal can afford it.”
So, if they manage to get a script that works for a third film, we may or may not see Seyfried return as Sophie Sheridan – along with the likes of Dominic Cooper as Sophie Skye’s husband, Christine Baranski as Tanya and Julie Walters as Rosie.
And to Mamma Mia! Will the film be without Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård as Sophie’s three fathers: Sam, Harry and Bill?
Brosnan seemed keen to return when asked about a potential third film in October 2022: “I’m in too. Certainly. It’s criminal how much fun you get from this movie. I think everyone will be in… I’m sure. There are some plans.”
However, given that the old version of Donna Sheridan (played by Meryl Streep) died between the first and second films, we don’t expect her to return for the third film.
Now Meryl Streep has the great idea to bring her back, in case it helps.
“I told (producer) Judy (Kraymer) that if she could find a way to transform Donna, I was interested. Or it could be like one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals that it was actually her twin sister. who died, she said Fashion in September 2023.
She also joked about how long it would take to film the film, and we can’t blame her.
Having witnessed Donna’s past exploits, Lily James (who played young Donna) may also be absent from the third film as a result, but she could always return in flashbacks.
As for Sophie’s ex-grandmother and Donna’s mother, Ruby Sheridan (Cher) was an effective replacement, so we expected her to continue in that motherly role—even if Cher was playing Streep’s mother in a rather large time shift. actresses.
However, don’t completely rule out Streep if she wants to play the role. A ghostly version of Donna seemed to sing at the end. Mamma Mia! Here we go again at her daughter Sophie’s christening, so perhaps Streep could continue to look down on and participate in events from the afterlife.
Skarsgard, on the other hand, will be ready if the threequel does happen. Talking to Digital SpyThe actor revealed that he would join the third film in no time: “I won’t have to read the script. If they call, I’ll come.”
Even his son Alexander Skarsgard dreams of playing in the third film. Alexander previously said he would “100%” sign up for it – not to work with his father, but to work with Meryl Streep again. Will his desire be enough to bring Streep back to the movies? Mamma Mia! mixing?
Mamma Mia 3 songs: What ABBA songs will be in Mamma Mia 3?
To continue this franchise properly, we’ll obviously need a Mamma Mia reprise, despite it being in the title and all.
There are also a few songs that are true ABBA classics that have acted as touchstones in both films so far and may appear again:

• ‘Slipping Through Your Fingers’
• “SOS”
• “Give me a chance”
• ‘Thank you for the music’

Meanwhile, Mama Mia 2 added these ABBA songs:

Whatever the choice, you can be sure that Cher will be happy to perform even more ABBA hits for our viewing pleasure.
Mamma Mia 3 Trailer: Is there footage from Mamma Mia 3 already?
