Marvel Villain Joins DUNE Sequel

Dune: part 2, has added Tim Blake Nelson to the cast. The actor will return as the leader in the fourth Marvel Studios Captain America film

Tim Blake Nelson has joined the cast of Dunes: Part 2. Denis Villeneuve’s extensive adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic is being produced by Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

The actor joins Dune newcomers Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux and Christopher Walken on the project, which officially wrapped filming in mid-December. The newcomers join returning actors Timothy Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem.

Character details for Nelson’s role are being kept under wraps. The sequel picks up the second half of Herbert’s 1965 novel. With Paul Atreides (Chalamet) teaming up with the desert-dwelling Fremen to liberate the planet Arrakis from the evil House Harkonnen.

The first film, Dune, was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on October 22, 2021 due to restrictions due to the COVID 19 pandemic. It grossed $400.6 million at the worldwide box office and earned 10 Oscar nominations, including the best film, and won six.

Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is back in the director’s chair for the sequel from a script he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts. Mary Parent, Denis Villeneuve, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick are producing the film.

Tim Blake Nelson was recently seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix series The Cabinet of Curiosities by Guillermo del Toro and reteamed with the filmmaker for Netflix’s stop-motion animated film, pinocchio, playing the character Black Rabbit. The film premiered on streaming on December 9 and has been nominated for best animated film at the 2023 Critic’s Choice Awards.

In 2021, Nelson starred in the Western old henry by Potsy Ponciroli, receiving praise for her performance. It was recently announced that the actor will return to the UCM after The Incredible Hulk to reprise Samuel Sterns, better known in the comics as The Leader in Captain America: New World Order.

Dune: Part 2 will hit theaters on November 3.
