Vietnam registered 141 cases from malaria Since the beginning of this year, the growth has been 107.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

In 13 of the 23 provinces with reported cases of malaria, infection was reported from imported sources. Currently, about seven million people live in Vietnam’s malaria-endemic areas in 1,030 communes. The poor and ethnic minorities mainly live in mountainous and remote areas, the central highlands and border areas.

Last year, 448 cases of malaria were reported across the Southeast Asian country.

To achieve the goal of eliminating malaria by 2030, Vietnam should no longer have cases of indigenous malaria parasites by 2027.
