“Merlina 2”: Jenna Ortega announces huge changes for the new season Skip intro

Jenna OrtegaStar of the popular Netflix series “Merlin”, revealed huge changes for the second season. The actress really wanted to create and produce during the filming of the previous installment, where, as she confessed, she made changes to the script so that certain scenes would suit her character. For this reason, she will return with the role of executive producer in the new chapter.

In this series based on the popular “The Addams Family” franchise, the actress plays Addams, who navigates the hardships of adolescence at Nevermore Academy, where her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams enrolled her. The plot previously featured mysteries and creepy creatures at the new school, including a love triangle between Wednesday, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hines White).

In an interview with Variety on Actors, Ortega commented that, in the second season, the romantic heft of the series would be reduced, as the producers hoped to explore a more sinister aspect of the plots. The actress added that “because (the series) is very light-hearted, but full of vampires, werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take it too seriously. (…) We’ll get rid of any romantic love interests on Wednesday, which is really exciting.”

Ortega was promoted to executive producer after some discussions on set during production of the first season. But, the more involved the actress was in character development, the lower the tension for the second season.

“So, in preparation for the second season, we wanted to be up front and make sure we could start conversations early. (…) And I’m very curious. I want to see the costumes, the new characters to come, the script, and they were kind enough to let me take on the role of producer,” Ortega said.

“Being a young woman in the industry, sometimes they don’t take you seriously or aren’t ready to walk past conversations. I’ve had crazy conversations with people who have limited me, either because of my age or just because I’m an actress. You become the puppet,” Ortega revealed. “But the most rewarding experiences and the ones I’m most proud of are the ones in which everyone’s voice is heard. Everyone brings something,” he added.

It is still unknown what exactly the new plots of “Merlina 2” will be. It remains as mysterious as the protagonist.
