Metro Awakening is a new installment in the post-apocalyptic saga after five years in the shadows, although it’s not what we expected.

The Metro Saga goes virtual reality (VR) with its new game, but retains all the elements that make it unique.

2024 will mark five years since the launch of Metro Exodus, the latest installment in the Russian post-apocalyptic saga. There are many fans who were looking forward to Artyom’s new adventure. Exploring the subways, bunkers, and the outside world has always been exciting. And now we will do it again, but not quite the same as last time.

It was in the first State of Play of 2024 when it was introduced. Metro Awakening, a new adventure of the saga with a significant difference: in virtual reality, especially for PlayStation VR2. Despite this change, the trailer shows that it retains many classic elements, from the iconic clock to the setting, gunplay and stealth.

This time we play as Cedar, a doctor who has to face a nuclear apocalypse in the tunnels of the Moscow metro with everything that follows from it: extremist people, mutants, radiation and much more. Our goal is to find a very specific medicine for my wife and get back to her. Events take place before Metro 2033, or more precisely in 2028.


Regarding the release date Metro Awakening, the only thing we know is that it will release sometime in 2024 for PlayStation VR2. It’s likely that it won’t take us long to hear more news. Until then, the gameplay revealed during the PlayStation event remains unchanged.
