Mexico, the most expensive country in the world to have a car

The Global Cost of a Car study, which was carried out by the American vehicle platform FINN, revealed that Mexico is the most expensive country on the planet to own a car. Some of the variables that were taken into account were the salary and the cost of fuel.
Despite the fact that Mexico is one of the main countries in the world in terms of vehicle production, and that it also has one of the best qualified workforce in the automotive sector, owning a car is more expensive than anywhere else.

Where is it more expensive to own a car?
The FINN platform determined that Mexico is the most expensive country on the planet to own a car, even if it is the most popular car, the Versa. “The country ranks first thanks to its high fuel costs, plus it has the third highest cost of its most popular car, the Nissan Versa, compared to median income as well.”
The list with the 10 countries where it is more expensive to have a car is:
- Mexico
- Estonia
- Latvia
- Portugal
- Czech Republic
- Hungary
- Israel
- Greece
- Spain
- Slovakia
Similarly, according to the study, Mexico is where gasoline is more expensive, per liter, the fuel costs each Mexican on average 0.22% of their monthly salary. This despite the fact that fuel prices are among the cheapest.
On the contrary, Luxembourg is the country where it is cheapest to own a car, reaching a score of 0.64 out of 10, one of the points in favor is that it is more accessible to buy its most popular car: the Volkswagen Golf.
Finally, to complete the list of the three countries where it is cheaper to own a car, the United States is in second place, and Australia is in third place.
