Microsoft Launches Designer, an AI-Powered Image Editing App
Almost a year after its launch online, the final version Microsoft Designer is now available on mobile devices. The generative AI app for creating and editing images is available for iOS and Android to compete with Canva. Users can edit photos, stickers, gift cards and a wide selection of documents without leaving your mobile phone.
Microsoft announced on its blog that Designer has completed beta testing and is now available for iOS and Android. The app is free, though A Microsoft account is required to use.. Designer creations can be transferred to other Microsoft 365 applications, such as Word or PowerPoint, or combined with content in Microsoft Photos.
The application allows create unique designs using artificial intelligence. Unlike other generative AIs like Midjourney or Stable Difussion, Designer lets you edit content. The app It’s a mix of Canva and Dall-E. in which it is enough to write fast the image you want, then choose a template or design to send as a gift card, invitation, or social media post.
Another interesting addition we find in the app is avatar creator. Designer can turn a photo into a Pixar-style character using a modality called Restyle. Users can choose from a number of predefined styles or enter a natural language phrase for the AI to do its job.
The options available will depend on the platform you are using Designer on, as well as your subscription type. The free version offers 15 increases magazines to create or edit images faster. Those with a Copilot Pro membership will receive 100 increases that they will be able to take advantage of both the app and its integration with Copilot.
Microsoft Designer Aims to Close the Gap with Google Photos
When Microsoft released the final version of Designer, it announced that it would integrate with other apps. As we see in Google Photos, AI features won’t be exclusive to Microsoft’s mobile apps. The Redmond giant has announced that Designer’s integration with photos will be available on the web and desktop. The latter will be the first to implement it via the Windows 11 Insider program.
