Starting next August 7 at 8pm MEX/COL/PR and 10pm ARG/CHI, SYFY Latin America premieres the miniseries “Monsterland”a chilling eight-episode anthology created by Mary Laws (“The Neon Demon,” “Succession”) and based on Nathan Ballingrud’s award-winning collection of horror short stories, “North American Lake Monsters”.
In addition, it has a remarkable musicalization by the Argentine producer and composer Gustavo Santaolalla (maker of memorable soundtracks such as “Brokeback Mountain”, “Babel”, “On The Road”) that, through chilling chords, creates a creepy atmosphere that accompanies the stories that are part of this fiction.
For lovers of horror, science fiction and gore, each episode of “Monsterland” It is an original and independent story that, although it addresses different themes: loss, regret, guilt and loneliness, maintains in common the questioning of who are the true monsters that devastate humanity, only to give as a disturbing answer that… they live within yourself.
The mini-series has a spectacular cast that gives life to characters where you can find a slight shade of real monsters in each one of them. From Kaitlyn Dever (“Unbelievable”)Taylor Schilling (“Orange is the New Black”)Adria Arjona (“Morbius”)Kelly Marie Tran (“Star Wars”)Charlie Tahan (“Ozarks”)Hamish Linklater (“The New Adventures of Old Christine”)Bill Camp (“The Leftovers”) and Mike Colter (“Luke Cages”)this cast gives life to real or imaginary monsters, who often show their faces as loved ones, fathers, mothers and/or brothers, in stories taken to the extreme.
In “Monsterland” reality is sometimes more terrifying than fantasy and the line that separates monsters and humans blurs to reveal that many times the worst of beasts can be one’s own conscience.
“Monsterland” defies the laws of narrative with round characters and stories that do not need heroes or heroines to captivate from the beginning and arouse the desire to see more.
