Montilla will present the best awards in the field of scientific photography at the national level

The Montilla City Council and the Montillana Association for the Promotion of Research and Science are calling for a fourth edition.

He Montilla Competition “Science in Photography” This will be the fourth edition of the national scientific photography competition with the largest financial prize, as announced this Friday by the Cultural Advisor Sole Rayaand member of AMDIC, Montigliana Association for the Dissemination of Research and Science, Rafa Garcia.

With organization Montilla City Council Thanks to the collaboration of a local group of scientists, this competition has succeeded over four years in bringing scientific phenomena closer to the public through images that have become a powerful tool for scientific and technological dissemination.

“At the height of the health pandemic, when we were paying more attention to science to find solutions, we saw the opportunity to hold this photo competition to increase public interest in understanding research and scientific phenomena,” commented a member of the Montiglan council, satisfied with the result achieved in the first years of this competition. In 2023, about 120 photographs were submitted to the competition..

Accepted entries must photograph results, situations, people, places or equipment associated with some aspect of science, technology and innovation in general, producing photographs of the quality and aesthetic beauty that accompany a scientific phenomenon. Likewise, the use of critical thinking and scientific reasoning is encouraged to allow citizens (participants and viewers) to interpret the photograph through the scientific text.

In this fourth edition, the prizes included in the rules are 700 euros for the best photo at the discretion of a professional jury appointed by the organization, and 400 euros for the second most rated photo. Last reward chosen for public mention by voting on social networks will also announce its authorship 400 euros.

Pending the publication of the rules in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cordoba (BOP), the deadline for submitting photographs has been announced from November 4 to December 16. Additional information and databases can be found on the AMDIC website as soon as they are published.
