NASA said one of the astronauts “experienced a health issue” and that hospitalized. The US space agency did not disclose the man’s health or identity, but provided some details of what happened and promised to provide more information later.
The announcement came hours after SpaceX’s Crew Dragon ship, the equivalent of the Crew-8 mission, touched down this Friday off the coast of Pensacola, Florida. The crew members were Matthew Dominic, Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps from NASA and Alexander Grebenkin from Roscosmos.
As follows from the procedure, the crew of the ship was subjected to medical examinationHowever, only three participants (two NASA astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut) left the hospital. The fourth astronaut remained hospitalized “in stable condition under observation as a precaution.”
The US space agency said the landing of the Crew Dragon spacecraft went well. They also indicated that “the recovery of the crew and ship occurred without incident.” The astronaut was hospitalized at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Four crew members had stay 232 days on the International Space Station (ISS). Meanwhile, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were supposed to return to Earth months ago, remain on the ISS after problems on the Boeing Starliner spacecraft. They will return with the Crew-9 mission.
