NATO to discuss Ukraine’s “victory plan” against Russia – DW – 10/16/2024

The “Victory Plan” launched by Ukraine against Russia will be discussed at a ministerial meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte, Secretary General of the military alliance, said this Wednesday (10/16/2024).

“It will definitely be on the table,” he told reporters. “There are many aspects of this and many political and military issues that we really need to discuss with the Ukrainians to understand what’s behind it, to see what’s behind it.” For what we can and cannot do.” Do it.”, exactly.

He also said that NATO would continue to “send massive military aid to Ukraine”, which “the Russians have to understand” as long as they “keep up the war effort.”

Zelensky: “Russia must lose the war against Ukraine”

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to cede Ukrainian territory to end the Russian aggression. Outlining his plan, he told parliament, “Russia must lose the war against Ukraine. There can be no ‘freezing’ (of the front line). There can be no exchange of Ukrainian territory or sovereignty.”

As part of the plan, Zelensky also advocated the deployment of “a comprehensive set of non-nuclear strategic deterrence measures, which would be sufficient to protect Ukraine from any military threat from Russia.”

The President specified that details of the proposal were contained in a “secret annex” of his plan, which he sent to the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Germany.
