Navalny’s widow fears arrest during funeral of slain Russian opposition leader in jail

“I don’t know whether (the funeral) will be peaceful or whether the police will arrest those who are there,” Navalnya told the European Parliament’s plenary session.

In his speech, Navalny attacked Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he defined as “the leader of a criminal organization.”

Navalny died in a remote penal colony in the Russian Arctic, and according to his widow Russian authorities “mistreated his body and abused his mother.”

Navalny’s funeral will be held in Moscow on Friday, his team said.
