Netflix is working on a new Fear Street movieNetflix

Netflix film chief Scott Stuber has confirmed that work has begun on a new Fear Street film.

In an interview with Collider, Stuber opened up about the streaming service’s plans and confirmed a fourth film in the Fear Street franchise.

Based on the book series of the same name by R.L. Stine, Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, starring Stranger Things stars Sadie Sink and Maya Hawke, was released in 2021.

With over 50 books in the Fear Street series, Stuber said that, although there are plenty of books to choose from, they are working on one of Stine’s standalone stories.

“Obviously, there are a lot of books,” Stuber said, “There is a stand-alone book that we’re working on right now and we’re trying to get the script right again, but I love it. It is, and so does this team.

While it’s impossible to guess what story the team chooses for Fear Street 4, Stuber said they’re working hard to make it fit within the franchise: “So I think if we stick with that script, “It would be a great kind of story to expand that franchise if we get it right.”

Speaking previously about expanding the Fear Street franchise, LeJanniac, who directed and co-wrote the first three films, said she hopes to turn the series into the horror equivalent of the MCU.

He told IndieWire, “One of the things I talked about before I was hired was that we had the potential to create a horror Marvel where you could have slasher killers from many different eras. Are.”

“You have the canon of our core mythology that’s built around the fact that the Devil lives in Shadyside, so there’s room for everything else as well… I think my hope is that the audience will find it so Would love for us to start building this (and more), we can think about what another trilogy would be, what standalones would be, what TV would be.”

The entire Fear Street trilogy is available to watch on Netflix.
