New Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 with Touring package: for track and road
Porsche is relaunching the 911 GT3. This road-going sports car, specially prepared for the circuit, debuts in its anniversary year with a strategy of further weight reduction, a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine producing 510 hp. (375 kW) and torque of 450 Nm, as well as new options. The Weissach package, available for the first time on the 911 GT3, offers even more configuration options for track use. In addition, it comes with excellent standard equipment and other options that enhance its precision and sportiness.
911 GT3 with style
The new 911 GT3 features sharp design front and rear and tailored aerodynamics. In both variants, a redesigned front diffuser, a refined spoiler lip shape and changes to the lower part of the fins increase downforce and optimize airflow. The updated Matrix LED headlights, available on the 911 GT3 with the optional white ring, combine all the lighting functions of the 911 and eliminate the need for additional headlights in the front apron. This allows for a larger air intake area and a cleaner appearance. At the rear, the diffuser, air intakes and rear hood have also undergone changes. The wing of the 911 GT3 now features new sloping side fins.
The double wishbone suspension arms on the front axle are aerodynamically designed and have a teardrop profile. This increases the aerodynamic load on the wheel arch at high speeds and improves brake cooling. To ensure that the balance of downforce between the front and rear axles is maintained even during high-speed braking, the suspension engineers reduced the pitch (anti-dive). To facilitate this function, the ball joint of the front lower control arm is located lower on the axle on the new 911 GT3. These modifications are taken from the current 911 GT3 RS. The 911 GT3 comes standard with 255/35 ZR 20 (front) and 315/30 ZR 21 (rear) sports tires with improved wet grip. Road approved tires are available as an option.
Travel package from launch and even more customizable
In the new model range, Porsche defines the variants of the 911 GT3 even more clearly. For the first time, the popular Touring package will be available at market launch. The “Touring Package” designation dates back to the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1973 and has been part of the GT3 program since 2017. In the new 911 GT3 this is even more characteristic, as reflected in the “911 GT3 touring”. logo on the rear door grille. The 911 GT3 with Touring package does not have a fixed spoiler, maintaining the elegant and timeless appearance of the 911. The retractable rear spoiler with a raised lip, the famous flap Gurney, and the adapted design of the fins in the lower part of the body provide optimal aerodynamic balance. The high-quality leather interior creates a classic, sporty ambience.
For the first time, a rear seat system can be ordered for the 911 GT3 with Touring package. This allows the everyday sports car to be further adapted to the customer’s wishes, without sacrificing maximum driving pleasure on winding roads. “Especially when cornering, you can clearly see that the steering has become more refined than its predecessor,” says Porsche spokesman Walter Röhrl. “This instills even more confidence in the car as it responds smoothly from center position without losing its focus. The shorter gear ratio also significantly improves off-road driving pleasure.”
Lightweight design in all aspects
The low weight of the 911 GT3 contributes to the car’s sportiness and agility. New lightweight silver aluminum wheels reduce unsprung weight by more than 1.5 kilograms compared to the previous model. Magnesium wheels are optionally available with the Weissach or lightweight package. With them you will save nine kilograms. The new lightweight 40A lithium-ion battery saves another four kilograms. In its lightest configuration, the new 911 GT3 weighs just 1,420 kilograms.
Gear ratio is eight percent shorter
The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine of the new 911 GT3 is designed to meet today’s much stricter emissions standards and features two diesel particulate filters and four catalytic converters. Thanks to this extremely effective emission control system, Porsche also offers exciting sound. The six-cylinder boxer engine has been improved in several ways. On the one hand, the cylinder heads have been redesigned, and on the other, the camshafts of the 911 GT3 RS provide even greater dynamics in the upper rev range.
In addition, individual flow-optimized throttle valves and more efficient oil coolers are used. The boxer engine still produces 510 hp. (375 kW), meaning each horse of the updated high-revving naturally aspirated engine only has to move 2.8 kilograms in the car’s lightest configuration. Both the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the GT’s 6-speed manual transmission have a final ratio eight percent shorter than the previous model. Both options are available for both the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT3 with Touring package. The new 911 GT3 with PDK accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 311 km/h (manual transmission: 3.9 s; 313 km/h).
“On the track, the new 911 GT3 offers even better control as it remains more stable and handles better over bumps and when pushing the piano thanks to optimized damping settings,” says brand spokesman Jörg Bergmeister. “The anti-peck system significantly reduces rolling when braking. As a result, the car’s balance becomes more stable in all conditions.”
Lightweight and innovative sports seat.
The new 911 GT3 offers as an option a new lightweight sports seat with a folding backrest and a carbon fiber shell. It is equipped with an integrated chest airbag, electrical height adjustment and manual length adjustment. As an additional option, heating with three levels of adjustment is offered. Part of the headrest padding can be removed, improving ergonomics for most helmet-wearing riders when using the track. The seatbelt-activated folding function provides access to the optional rear seat system, offered for the first time in the 911 GT3 with Touring package. As an alternative, there are Adaptive Sports Seats Plus with 18-way electrical adjustment.
The black cabin of the new 911 GT3 is based on the design of the current 911 models. However, unlike the Carrera, the 911 GT3 does not start with a button, but still has a rotary ignition switch. The optional roll cage shows your proximity to the competition. The digital instrument cluster in the center supports the driver with a clearly structured display and operating concept. Thanks to the contrasting color scheme, the tachometer and stopwatch are easy to read. In Track Screen display mode, digital displays to the left and right of the tachometer display key tire, oil, water and fuel data, while flashing signals inform the driver of the optimal moment to shift gears. If desired, the tachometer display can be rotated so that the 9000 rpm cutting speed is at the 12 o’clock position.
Individual packages for the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring
Porsche offers several equipment packages for the new 911 GT3. Thanks to the Weissach package, available for the first time, the 911 GT3 becomes even more suitable for track use. The anti-roll bar, suspension arms and rear axle skid plate are made from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), as are the roof, rear spoiler side plates, the top of the door mirror housings, the mirror triangle and air blades in the front zone. Additional leather and Race-Tex upholstery enhance the interior’s appearance. For the first time, the upper part of the instrument panel of the 911 GT3 is covered with Race-Tex anti-glare coating. Carbon fiber opening handles and storage nets optimize the interior door panels with a lightweight design. A carbon fiber roll cage and forged magnesium wheels are available as options.
For the 911 GT3 with Touring package, Porsche offers the Lightweight package. The roof, painted in body color, as well as anti-roll bars, suspension arms and rear axle protection panel are made of carbon fiber. Also included are magnesium forged wheels and door panels. Mated to the standard 6-speed manual transmission, the GT uses the shorter shift lever from the 911 S/T. In front of this selector there is a sign that says “Lightweight”.
The 911 GT3 with rear spoiler is available as a free Clubsport package for track use. The kit includes a steel roll cage bolted to the rear, a 6-point driver seat belt and a hand-held fire extinguisher. Type of sports seats bucket optional ones are a prerequisite for this.
“The new 911 GT3 has become even more interesting and personalizable. We went into a lot of detail and included a lot of the features our customers wanted. This allows the GT3 to be adapted even more precisely to the driver’s preferences,” explains Andreas Preuninger, Director of GT Models.
An exclusive chronograph – “a sports car on the wrist.”
Exclusively for owners of the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring, Porsche Design presents an exceptional timepiece that brings the design and performance of a sports car to the wrist. The 911 GT3 Chronograph and 911 GT3 Touring Chronograph are equipped with a precision COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.200 movement, which has a reverse stroke. The ultra-light titanium case, optionally coated with black titanium carbide, combines sports car design with modern watchmaking. The GT3 design dial, with yellow details and hexagonal structure, is reminiscent of a car’s dashboard, and the winding rotor is inspired by the GT3 wheel. The dial ring is available in all 911 GT3 exterior and Touring package colours, as well as Paint to Sample colours. The strap, made from genuine Porsche leather and internal thread, also matches the vehicle’s specification.
Orders for the new Porsche 911 GT3 and the new Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring package will open from the end of the year. The final price for both options in Spain is 240,815 euros. The Weissach package costs €25,820, while the Lightweight package costs €38,635.
