Nintendo World Championship Leaked: NES Edition for Switch
The North American age ratings organization has released information about a new unannounced Nintendo game.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for Switch is described in the ESRB listing as “a collection of 2D competition and platform games where players compete in a variety of modes (such as speedrun or survival).
“Some objectives involve reaching certain points, while others require players to defeat small enemies or survive short battles.”
“Some games feature pixelated characters using small swords or arrows to hit enemies. Enemies are usually stunned or disappear in the blink of an eye.”
The listing also explains that the game has in-app purchases, although their contents are not detailed.
From the description, it seems that Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will be a successor of sorts to the NES Remix saga that Nintendo published a few years ago for Wii U and 3DS and which consisted of short challenges in various classic games from Japanese companies such as Super Mario Bros. , Donkey Kong, Metroid or The Legend of Zelda.
NES Remix 2 essentially featured the Nintendo World Championships Remix mode, inspired by a competition held in the US in 1990 that also produced one of the most sought-after NES cartridges among video game collectors.
With the age rating leaked, it’s likely that this new game will be announced in the coming weeks, possibly at a Nintendo Direct that is rumored to be broadcast in May or early June.
