Normal election atmosphere in Catalonia on a cloudy day
Catalans will be called to the polls again this Sunday to determine the composition of the European Parliament, just a day before the formation of the new hemisphere of Catalonia after the May 12 elections. The European race has been overshadowed by negotiations over the composition of the parliamentary council, whose chairman will decide who will be the first candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat: Salvador Illa or Carles Puigdemont. The possibility of a repeat election is not ruled out since neither of the two candidates has a clear majority to be anointed, but the socialist starts with more opportunities to take office. The path of the head of the juntas requires socialist abstinence, against which the UCP has already slammed the door, but this does not mean that he excludes himself, but rather pushes for a debate on his candidacy, even threatening to put the stability of Pedro Sánchez at the head of the government under control.
