Omega x Swatch Moonshine Gold Collection Finally Presented in Collector’s Edition and Up for Auction
If Hollywood has taught us anything, it’s that briefcases contain important and valuable items. Gold, gadgets, unmarked banknotes, secret documents, diamonds – everything John Travolta saw. Pulp Fictionetc.
And now the complete Omega x Swatch Mission to Moonshine Gold collection.
For a new project with Sotheby’s, the famous watch collaboration has created 11 briefcases (or “suitcases” as the Swiss watch brands like to call them) containing all 11 Moonshine watches with a seconds hand in 18-karat gold. And yes, this includes the Blue Moon watch, undoubtedly a big fan favorite.
The portfolios will be auctioned at Sothebys.com from February 12 to 24. But before that, you can check them out by visiting one of Omega’s 11 boutiques around the world.
This brings us to the difference between each of them. Each briefcase comes with a unique coin adorned with the three-letter aviation code representing the city in which it is displayed.
For example, a briefcase displayed in a boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York is adorned with a coin that reads “JFK” (image below). And we’re guessing that the coin you might find in a shop on Regent Street in London will have one labeled “LHR”, “LCY” or “LGW” (there’s a good chance it will be “LTN”).
The code will also be engraved on the side of each watch, making it unique.
And now the best part: the profits will be donated to charity. In particular, Orbis International, a long-time friend of Omega who fights preventable blindness and vision around the world.
A really good reason to bet.
To participate in the auction, visit Sotheby’s online store on February 12 at 14:00.
