Performance +40% over i9-14900K at 320W.

We keep getting new performance tests AMD Ryzen 9 9950Xthe next flagship processor in the Ryzen 9000 series.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X: +40% Performance vs. i9-14900K @ 320W

We have previously seen this same processor being tested with TDP from 230 Wwhere it has already demonstrated its performance advantage over Core i9-14900K And Ryzen 9 7950X. These new benchmarks go a little further, however, testing this processor at 5.5GHz across all cores, as well as with the PPT fully unlocked at 320W.

Despite being an engineering sample, the processor shows significant performance gains when overclocked, with the processor managing to maintain a peak frequency of 5.5 GHz across all cores, improving on previous results seen when running the processor at 230 W PTC.

Unlimited PPT Tests

Below we see the achieved frequencies and temperatures at each setting: from 60W to 320W PPT.

Testing with 253W PPT
  • Ryzen 9 9950X (No PPT Limit): 5621 MHz Peak/80°C Temperature
  • 9950X (5.5GHz, 253OC PPT): Peak Clock 5500MHz, Temperature 61°C
  • 9950X (230W PPT): Peak Clock 5620MHz, Temperature 62°C
  • 9900X (160W PPT): Peak Clock 5555MHz, Temperature 58°C
  • 9950X (120W PPT): Peak Clock 5220MHz, Temperature 55°C
  • 9950X (90W PPT): Peak Clock 5050MHz, Temperature 49°C
  • 9950X (60W PPT) – 4084MHz Peak Clock, 41°C Temperature

These frequencies and temperatures were achieved using a liquid cooling system.and judging by the results, we can see that the difference between PPT 253W and unlimited PPT up to 320W is almost zero in the Blender performance test, so it is wiser for the processor to work with PPT 253W, which worked at 61 degrees Celsius.

With these settings We see that the Ryzen 9 9950X is up to 40% faster than the i9-14900K and 38% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X. This is a 7% improvement over previous results with a 230W PPT.

The Ryzen 9000 series will be released at the end of July this month. We will keep you updated.
