An explosion occurred this afternoon at the McDonald’s fast food restaurant, which is located on Baldorioty Street, in Cayey, leaving several people injured.
According to the restaurant manager, he indicated that gave him a strong smell of gas and moved quickly to the stopcock where he shuts it off.
Subsequently, the explosion arose in the kitchen area. As a result of the incident, some six employees and two customers were slightly injured.

Drivers were asked not to drive through the area.
Those affected were transported by municipal paramedics to a hospital in the area where they were treated by the doctor on duty, who diagnosed minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the McDonald’s advertising agency in Puerto Rico assured that the “situation is under control and all its employees are fine.”
“Because of the suspicion of a possible gas leak, the employees took immediate action, evicting the restaurant and following all the security protocols, managing to close the premises prior to the explosion,” they explained in written statements.
As part of the security protocols for employees and customers, the company will keep the restaurant closed and will continue to collaborate in the investigation of the incident.
