PHOTOS: Neutral bathrooms now have the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM | Healthy world

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), reported this Wednesday on its social networks the inauguration of neutral bathrooms at the Faculty of Medicine.

Some photos shared, including cutting the appointment to indicate that they are already in operation.

“To promote new forms of community integration from a paradigm of coexistence that favors plurality, were inaugurated the first neutral bathrooms of the FacMed. Get to know them!”, was the message they shared on networks.



In the month of August of last year, the Faculty of Chemistry of this same educational institution unveiled its first neutral bathroom and qualified it “as a sign of inclusion and recognize the right to gender freedom.”

PRESENCE OF NEUTRAL BATHROOMS IN OTHER COUNTRIES

The bathrooms neutrals have been increasing, such is the case of countries such as the United States, Canada, China, India, Nepal, Thailand, Brazil, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Japan and Mexicoaccording to the UNAM Global portal.

They explain that in the same way these spaces have been created for parents whose children are of a different gender than theirs (that is, mother with son or father with daughter).

Paulina Trapagá, coordinator of the gender unit of the Faculty of Chemistry, Last year, he explained that a neutral bathroom is a public sanitary space with free access “for people who belong to the diverse gender community or who live gender identity from diversity.”
