It seems like everyone wants a piece of The Sims these days, like PUBG editor krafton has shown his version of the classic series, enZOI.
Whichever way you look at it right now, it looks like you can find someone making a game that’s clearly based on The Sims. Life By You is an example that literally has a former lead Sims developer working on it, and Paralives seems to offer a bit smaller scale. Now, we have Korean video game publisher and company Krafton entering the picture, having shown off a demo of the game for inZOI earlier this week. The demo was shown at G-STAR 2023, a gaming event held in Busan, Korea, and provided a good overview of the different gameplay elements available.
One thing you’ll notice immediately is how…realistic it looks. The trailer notes that the footage is early and “not indicative of the final product,” but there’s something a little off about it. I think it feels less strange to inspect the lives of random citizens when they look more like cartoon characters. But when they seem so real, my fight or flight kicks in a little.
It looks like an appropriately complicated game, with lots of different activities for your characters (inZOIans?) to take part in. Of course, you can customize the buildings to look however you want, and there’s a pretty detailed character creator as well. However, at one point they show someone made to look like Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, which is certainly a choice.
An official blurb for the game (translations via IGN) reads: “Do you have the life you’ve always dreamed of? Do you need a unique experience that blurs the line between reality and imagination? In InZoi you can freely control the world like a god and make Realize your ideal life. Plus, instead of simply living the life you’ve been given, you can become the protagonist living the life you want. It’s time to create your own story in InZoi, where endless possibilities await!
No platform appears to have been confirmed for inZOI yet, but it is scheduled for release in 2024.
