‘Público’ offers an exclusive fragment of ‘The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan’
The young actor François Civil gets into the shoes of D’Artagnan in this new film adaptation of the novel by Alexandre Dumas, where he shares the artistic bill with Vincent Cassel, Roman Duris and Pio Marmaï (Athos, Aramis and Porthos, respectively) and with Eva Green and Louis Garrel, giving life to the characters of Milady and Louis XIII.
With a script by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, the film is directed by Martin Bourboulon and tells of the dangers faced by the young d’Artagnan when he arrives in Paris looking for the kidnappers of a young woman.

“We all remember the plot of The Three Musketeers, their sense of honor and brotherhood and the magnitude of the battles. When I think about how the novel made me feel as a child, I feel the magnitude of the story,” says the director, who acknowledges that the swashbuckling genre that became so popular in the 1970s has hardly been revised and renewed since then.
“Some of the themes, like camaraderie and betrayal, are absolutely timeless. But I also conceive of this film as an adventure blockbuster,” adds Bourboulon. streaming platforms, and we all shared that desire to create great movies that would be released theatrically.”
The film, which also includes Vicky Krieps and Lyna Khoudri in the cast, was shot in real locations (Les Invalides, the Louvre courtyard, Meaux cathedral, Chantilly castle, Fontainebleau and Compiègne) and this is one of its attractive.
