Recognition of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands to members of the scientific community of the UIB – Salud Ediciones


The Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands (RAMIB) has awarded its prizes and distinctions for the year 2022, among which several members of the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) have been recognized. Doctor Manuela Abbate, associate professor of the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the UIB, has been awarded the Prof. Jean Dausset Award for the best thesis in Medicine and Related Sciences, for the doctoral thesis Renal Health in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndromewhich he defended at the UIB in June 2021.

The associate professors of the Faculty of Medicine Anna Torrent, Octavi Córdoba and Joana Amengual, and Dr. Pilar Roca, professor in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences, have been awarded the Laboratorio Dr. Cortés prize for the best publication on gynecologic oncology by study Sentinel lymph node biopsy in endometrial cancer: Dual injection, dual tracer. In multidisciplinary exhaustive approach to nodal stagingof which they are co-authors together with Catalina Maria Sampol, Mario Ruiz, Jorge Rioja and Gabriel Matheu, from the Hospital Universitari Son Espases.

The researchers Josep Lluís Coll, Hilda María González, Pilar Tomás, Katrina Riera, Maria Gordito and Miguel Carlos Aguiló, from the ADEMA University School, a center attached to the UIB, have been awarded the prize by the Official College of Pharmacists of the Balearic Islands for the best research study in the field of pharmaceutical sciences for the work Association between consumption of anxiolytics and antidepressants and the level of cardiometabolic risk in the population of the Balearic Islands.

The researchers Giuseppe Russolillo, Juan Pablo Martí, Pilar Tomás, María Gil, Rosa González and Víctor Manuel Robles, from the Escola Universitària ADEMA, a center attached to the UIB, have been awarded the ADEMA Award for the best oral health research study and nutrition. In addition, the RAMIB has also awarded the distinction as elected corresponding academic to Mr. Miquel Pastor Tous, head of the Documentary Projects Unit of the UIB Documentation and Archive Service.

The awards and distinctions have been delivered within the framework of the inaugural session of the 2023 academic year, which took place yesterday, January 24, at the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands, in Palma.
