Reconstruction in Firpo: Transfers and casualties for the Clausura 2023

Firpo made official the signings of the first team to face this Clausura 2023 tournament in which under the command of national coach Guillermo Rivera hopes to meet expectations.

This is a total of six signings that Firpo confirmed this Tuesday, January 3, at a press conference held in the city of Usulután. Experienced players and two foreigners who can make a difference.

The experienced goalkeeper Manuel González, the right back Edwin Lazo, the midfielder Kevin Sagastizado, Enrique Rivas and Elías Gumero join with national places. The foreigners who join the first team are the Chileans Sebastian Julio and Felipe Andrés Brito.

The leadership also made the appointment of casualties for this Clausura 2022 official. Diego Chávez, Santos Guzmán, Reinaldo Aparicio, Alvaro Lizama, Geovanni Sigarán, Steven Riascos are the players who are leaving the squad.

Coach Carlos Romero, his assistant Sebastian Hernández, his physical trainer Luis Chicas and goalkeeper coach Will Cardona also said goodbye to the club.


Firpo’s objective in this Clausura 2023 will be, mainly, to save the category. Involved in two relegations in the last 10 years, the Pampas team carried out one of the worst campaigns in its history in which after 10 games they did not win any game. Those led by Carlos Romero lost 5 times and tied 5.

“We are here to work. I want a Firpo giving everything on the pitch and we will all achieve that together,” said Guillermo Rivera.

Firpo was the worst team in the 2022 Apertura and fell behind Chalatenango (6 pts) and Once Deportivo (7 pts).
