Saoirse Ronan has blue hair in first look at The Outrun

Saoirse Ronan has blue hair as she plays a troubled young woman finding her way in the world in the upcoming film The Overtake.

Arcade Pictures, the production company behind The Outrun, posted a still from the film online Thursday showing Ronan with his co-star Paapa Essiedu.

Ronan lies face up towards Essied with his eyes closed. Her hair has a turquoise tint that matches the blue glitter on her face and eyelashes.

Another still was released after filming in 2022, in which Ronan’s blue hair was on full display, but few other photos of the look have surfaced. On the official film poster, Ronan’s hair is orange.

Arcade Pictures also announced the film’s release date in Irish cinemas along with stills, revealing that The Outrun will be released on September 27th.

The Ronan star plays the title role of Rhona, a young woman who has just left rehab and returns to her rural hometown after more than a decade away.

Based on the best-selling book by Amy Liptrot, the film is a story of addiction and recovery that has received widespread critical acclaim since its premiere in January. Ronan also served as an on-set producer.

“I think almost everyone has had their own relationship with addiction, whether it’s what you’ve been through yourself or seen a loved one go through,” Ronan previously told The Hollywood Reporter.

“This disease has affected us all in one way or another, and I am no exception. It’s an illness that has shaped my life quite dramatically: I haven’t gone through it myself, but I’ve been on the edge of what could happen.” with that, I always wanted to understand it more.”
