Mexico: A shocking explosion occurred in the Popocatepetl volcano, considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
It is the most monitored volcano in its country, with a team of 13 scientists from different specialties monitoring its activity day and night.

During the early hours of this Tuesday, the Popocatépetl volcano woke up with an impressive eruption, spewing incandescent material and smoke, generating a volcanic alert that raised traffic lights to yellow stage 2.
“Popo” or “Don Goyo”, as it is also known, is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes on the planet due to its proximity to densely populated areas. It is located in the center of Mexico, between Morelos, Puebla and the State of Mexico, and less than 100 km from the capital of this country.
According to the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED), 35 exhales were recorded in the last few hours and 173 aftershocks were recorded that started at high frequency and medium to low amplitude.

Popocatépetl is the most monitored volcano in this country, with a team of 13 scientists from different specialties monitoring its activity day and night.
Currently, a constellation of cameras, sound sensors, seismic and meteorological stations help monitor its activity 24 hours a day, sending data to a control center located south of Mexico City.
Senapred reported that the activity currently registered is listed in Yellow Volcano Alert Traffic Light Phase 2. The scenarios planned for this phase consider continuation of low to intermediate scale explosive activity; Light to moderate ash rain in nearby towns; and the potential for pyroclastic flows and short-range mud flows.
Recommendations for the population
After recording the incandescent volcanic material, the center indicated that it is extremely dangerous to visit the area around Popocatépetl Volcano as another eruption could occur at any time.
Officials advise that, when cleaning up volcanic ash, it should be done with a face mask, not by sweeping water or pouring it down a drain. The collected ash can be placed in a bag and reused as fertilizer.
Additionally, they recommend leaving pets in a safe environment as ash can cause conjunctivitis and respiratory problems.
