Silence (Acciona) launches first electric ‘car’ with removable batteries in Spain

ACCIONA has launched the NanoCar Silence S04, a lightweight, two-seater, all-electric vehicle that is entirely produced in Spain, in the new ACCIONA plant in the Barcelona Free Trade Zone, using industrial facilities previously dedicated to the production of combustion engine vehicles, covering 61,000 square metres and with a capacity of 20,000 units per year in a single shift.

The electric microcar is now available at Silence flagship stores in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​and can also be purchased at the brand’s usual dealer network in Spain and the rest of Europe. ACCIONA and Nissan announced in April an agreement for the immediate distribution of Silence products in France and Italy, with other countries on the continent starting in September.

The S04 joins ACCIONA’s urban mobility offering, which includes the Silence electric motorcycles (S01, S01+ and S02). In addition, all Silence brand electric vehicles use the same removable and replaceable battery system.

Removable batteries

Silence S04 represents a new type of light urban vehicle. Its two batteries, designed to be removed as if they were a trolley, can be charged in any household socket or replaced at one of the 120 battery stations with 1,200 exchange points that the brand has in the main cities of Spain. This exclusive ACCIONA system allows the batteries to be replaced with charged ones in less than 30 seconds, repeating the traditional refuelling procedure. By the end of the year, the company will have 160 stations and 1,600 battery exchange points in Spain.

Features of Silence S04

The S04 has compact dimensions: 2.28 meters long, 1.26 meters wide and 1.57 meters high, with a loading volume of 247 liters. This allows two passengers to travel with a high level of comfort and a minimal impact on the environment. Its small size makes it very easy to park, as two S04s can fit in the space occupied by a medium-sized car.

The electric car has two versions:

Silence S04 L7e:

• Lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 11.2 kWh.
• Autonomy 149 kilometers in the WMTC cycle.
• Electric motor with a power of 14 kW (19 hp) with a peak power of 22 kW (29.9 hp).
• Acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in less than 7 seconds.
• Maximum speed 85 km/h.
• Driver’s license required B.

Silence S04 L6e:

• Identical battery capacity.
• Autonomy 175 kilometers.
• The maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h.
• Motors produce 3 kW (8.1 hp) with a peak power of 10.6 kW (14.4 hp).
• You can drive from the age of 15 with an AM license.

Equipment and technologies

Both versions of the Silence S04 include air conditioning, a seven-inch digital TFT screen, a multifunction steering wheel, a Bluetooth audio system, a synthetic leather-covered instrument panel, a smartphone holder with a built-in charger, three driving modes (Eco, City and Sport), LED headlights, disc brakes and keyless entry via smartphone.

Connectivity options

Application My silencecompatible with iOS and Android, allows users to access features such as keyless entry (turning your phone into a car key), exchange friends (car sharing between individuals) and always check the location of the car, the remaining autonomy and activate the alarm in case of unauthorized movement.

Prices

The S04 can be purchased in two ways: a subscription for battery service or by purchasing the batteries themselves. The subscription reduces the initial cost of the car by up to 35%, including a monthly fee of €19.99 for three charging cycles. The starting prices are €9,870 for the L6e and €11,680 for the L7e, not counting the additional savings from the Moves III plan (up to €1,800) and a tax deduction of 15% of personal income tax (almost €1,200).
