Six people possibly poisoned in a Bangkok hotel

According to public channel Thai PBS, the victims were drinking coffee and tea and had prepared their suitcases to leave the hotel today.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Thiti Sangsawang, indicated there were no indications that there had been a fight, while officers denied that there had been a shootout as initially reported by some local media.

A seventh guest registered with the six victims is missing and the bodies were found by a hotel employee, officials said.

Prime Minister Sretha Thawisin ordered an immediate investigation into what happened and visited the hotel, located in a busy tourist area of ​​Bangkok, to closely follow the investigation.

Such incidents are not common in Thailand, although there have been serious shootings in recent years, including last October by a 14-year-old who killed three people at a Bangkok shopping centre.
