Someone created a huge Bitcoin miner in a town in Texas. Neighbors say the noise is ruining their lives.

The Bitcoin fever seems to have gained momentum these days. Following the ETF’s approval and record price breaking the $69,000 barrier, little has been said about the cryptocurrency. A huge Bitcoin mine has stolen the tranquility of this place. At least that’s according to a lawsuit recently filed in state court by Earthjustice. The document argues against running facilities continuously, creating a constant hum, which they call “excessive noise pollution.”

The lawsuit alleges that residents suffer from various effects such as lack of sleep, headaches, dizziness, anxiety or stress. They explain that this combination of factors has changed the daily lives of many people. Some residents, they add, can hear the sound of the mine even while inside their home.

The company behind the facilities in question is Marathon Digital, which operates several cryptocurrency data centers in the United States. According to Inside Climate News, the Granbury mine consists of 20,000 computing units, the temperature control system of which consists of a liquid cooling system and fans.

Earthjustice, which represents the interests of residents who consider themselves victims, appealed to the justice system with a request suspend operations mine, although this opens the door to its continued operation if those in charge manage to resolve the noise pollution problem. It is in this sense that Marathon Digital has presented a roadmap.

The company says that 30% of its infrastructure in Granbury is already running exclusively on liquid cooling and that it is working to further implement this solution by the end of this year. They also note that they installed acoustic walls and turned off fans directed towards the road.
