Spain is already in Nantes in search of gold
The Spanish women’s national football team arrived in Nantes this Sunday to play the first two games of the group stage of the Paris Olympic Games, just one year after their first meeting at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, in which they became world champions.
Spain, which will take part in the Olympic tournament for the first time, trained at the Las Rozas Football Club (Madrid) this Sunday morning and after the players underwent treatment, they headed to the French city, where they arrived around 21:20.
This Monday, Montse Tomé’s team will train for the first time on French soil. The Spanish team will train at the Marcel Sopin stadium at 11:45 to continue preparing for their debut on Thursday at the La Beaujoire stadium against Japan, the only team to beat Spain at last year’s World Cup.

The Spanish side will then face Nigeria at La Beaujoire next Sunday before travelling to Bordeaux to play their final group game against Brazil.
“We are really looking forward to it, we have been here (in Madrid) for many days now and the opportunity to change our routine and experience the Olympic Games is something we have been thinking about for a long time. After the World Cup and the Nations League, we want to have a lot of fun and show on the pitch everything we have done in training,” Jenny Hermoso said in a statement to the Royal Spanish Football Federation shortly before leaving for Nantes.
Alexia Putellas underlined the ambitions of the Spanish team. “It’s a title that I miss, like everyone else. We are going to the Games for the first time and we are very happy. We want to do something big,” he admitted.
“Of course, always with humility, but we go with confidence, knowing that we are the current world champions. Fortunately, it is France, which is very close to Spain, and we hope that many people will come to support us and continue to win,” concluded the two-time Ballon d’Or winner.
