Los Angeles-based contemporary brand, Splendid, has teamed up with celebrity stylist Kate Young to launch a limited-edition capsule collection.
The collection, called Kate Young x Splendid, focuses on luxury classics, including layering essentials like bodysuits, day-to-night maxidresses, wool outerwear and coordinated sets in rich, neutral colors.

“I spend all day thinking about clothes and I’ve noticed that when people wear clothes in styles they actually want to wear, they feel most confident. We have combined the softness and ease that lies at the core of every great style with timelessly elegant silhouettes that not only look good, but feel good,” said Young.
Young, who has no design background, has spent more than a decade consulting and styling runway shows. His clients include Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Sienna Miller, Nina Dobrev and Sophie Turner.
Young has previously designed an evening collection with Target, opticals with Tura and jewelry with Monica Vinader.
Young explained that she began the collaboration with Splendid over Zoom and did all the existing designs in New York City. “The design team at Splendid is amazing, and I was so impressed by their knowledge and comfort in bringing my ideas to life,” Young said.
Young said the collection is multi-generational and focused on Splendid’s existing clientele, her own personal tastes and what she wants for her customers. “I wanted to create clothes that people would actually want to wear every day – cute, easy clothes that all work together and simplify the process of feeling put together and comfortable,” she said.
Splendid’s traditional fabrics, such as French terry, silk modal and cashmere, are used throughout the collection, showcasing innovative styles the brand is introducing for the first time. The capsule is an evolution of Splendid’s timeless offerings that brings an edge to the classics of the day and a versatile approach to polished wardrobes.
When asked how she describes her aesthetic, Young said, “I would best say sleek, classic, nice clothes.” He expects the best sellers will be coats and tees. “I think the coats are very beautiful and really very valuable. The tees are also very flattering and don’t leave your bra completely visible – they look great with everything,’ Young said.
“This collection embraces the elegant and timeless side of the fabulous woman, using the backdrop to elevate mood and personality through Kate’s wardrobe. “Thoughtful details hand-crafted into luxury fabrications of silk and cashmere make these pieces wardrobe staples that will last a lifetime,” said Holly Shapiro, creative director of Splendid.
The Kate Young x Splendid collection includes 24 dress styles, with prices ranging from $48 to $448. It will be available on Splendid.com and Splendid stores. Select pieces will also be available online and in-store at Neiman Marcus.
When asked if it was for one season or an ongoing collaboration, Young said, “I hope it continues. “I really enjoy the Splendid team and I want to spend more time with them, so hopefully this is the start of a great partnership.”
