Starting in January, NVIDIA will not allow GeForce Now Ultimate subscribers to play more than 100 hours per month.

Bad news for subscribers of the Ultimate plan, as well as the Priority plan of the GeForce Now cloud gaming service. The ad for a 25% discount on a “performance” subscription (which replaces a priority subscription) contained a poison dart: Nvidia has decided to limit the number of hours they can use the service, and they won’t be able to play more than 100 hours a month even if they pay for the most expensive plan of all.

And here’s the “business”: everyone who wants to play more than those 100 hours a month will have to pay more, with the cost of just 15 hours of additional play being $6 more for those who already pay more (Ultimate plan users) and $3 more for Priority plan users.

Geeknetic Starting January, NVIDIA will not allow GeForce Now Ultimate 1 subscribers to play more than 100 hours per month

However, just like many low-cost cell phone companies do, NVIDIA will allow some minutes not used in one month to be carried over to the next month. Specifically, up to 15 unused hours can be added to the next month’s hours.

As a consolation prize. Customers who maintain their account until December 31, 2024 will continue to enjoy another year of unlimited gaming time. However, all new accounts registered after 2025 will suffer from this limitation.

The company hides the fact that only 6% of service users exceed this number of hours, but it is still a significant percentage. Without a doubt, this decision will make those who still have concerns about cloud gaming systems think twice before taking the plunge.

In any case, despite these changes, GeForce Now remains with the Free, Performance and Ultimate plans. The new Performance plan replaces the previous Priority plan, adding support for 1440p resolution, support for 21:9 aspect ratio, and the ability to save graphics settings. These features were previously available in the Ultimate plan and have been carried over to the Performance at the same price as previously available in the Priority plan.
