Stephen Merchant has shared the personal message Adele dedicated to him before a recent Las Vegas show – and joked he didn’t get anything like it from Bono the next night.
co-creator of Office An Instagram Reel revealed that before seeing one of Adele’s shows at her Vegas residency, she was presented with a program on which Adele had handwritten a personal memory of the two meeting several years earlier.

“I just came back from Vegas, where I saw Adele in concert,” Merchant said. “And I met that great lady almost ten years ago, I didn’t expect her to remember me. “I go to the show, someone comes from somewhere, they hand me a personalized memorial program, written to me with a message from Adele.”
Before showing the video clip he says, “I can’t believe it, made my night, I’m enjoying the show, she’s performing so well, amazing singer, amazing lyricist, great showmanship and then, This happened.” He hugged Adele as she walked through the crowd during the show.
“The fact that Adele actually took the time to write me this right before she went on stage to perform in front of thousands of people is incredibly sweet, I’m very, very impressed. So I just wanted to say a big thank you to him.
“And the next night, I went to see U2 in concert. And I didn’t get anything from Bono.
In September, Merchant was named the UK’s richest comedian, ahead of his former co-writers Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay. His TV production businesses, including SJJM Limited, are believed to be a major factor in his financial success.
In 2018, Merchant said that he would be happy to work with Ricky Gervais again. “If there was the right idea, it would be good to do something. But right now, there’s nothing on the horizon,” he said.
