Stores change strategy for ‘Black Friday’

With the change in strategy implemented by retail stores, the sales of the traditional Black Friday (‘Black Friday’) have taken a new turn after the pandemic and thousands of border buyers have begun to purchase their merchandise on the eve of the celebration that marks the start of the Christmas season.

Compared to the past when consumers crowded shopping centers to buy their electronics at a lower price, today those lines and crowds have disappeared, giving order to purchases.

To avoid confusion for their customers, the various retail chains have informed through their social networks and alternative media the opening hours of their stores both before, during and after the celebration.

Stores such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Home Depot, among others, will remain closed on Thursday the 24th, Thanksgiving Day, and will reopen their doors from 5 in the morning on Friday. Ashley Furniture will be closing that day.

“In particular, it seems good to me that we can now buy our merchandise before the date of the Christmas sale, either online or in person, because it gives me time to think if I really need them. That way, no one rushes me,” said Elsa Esparza, a resident of the eastern part of the city.

On the holiday, some retailers such as Whole Foods, Bass Pro, Old Navy, CVS and Walgreens, among others, will open their doors as early as 9 am and close no later than 6 pm.

Academy Sports, Bed Bath & Beyond, Michael’s, Lowe’s, JC Penny, Macy’s, Walmart, Best Buy and Target, will open their doors on ‘Black Friday’ with attractive offers for their customers at 5 am.

Other stores like Costco, Foot Locker, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Nordstrom, will open after 9 am.

Walmart and Target, which used to have at least limited hours on Thanksgiving, began closing their doors for the 2020 holiday when the coronavirus pandemic began. The two companies and many others continued closures in recent years.

Best Buy also reported that its stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, directing shoppers to its website and app instead. Walmart closed last year for Thanksgiving and will do the same this year.

Black Friday pre-Christmas sales have been extended from physical stores to online sales and their duration has been extended, since it is no longer just a day, but a whole weekend of offers between ‘Black Friday’ and on Cyber ​​Monday (launched in 2005).

According to merchants, shopping opportunities exist for everyone so if you’re thinking of joining in on Black Friday sales this year, all you need is a consumer strategy for the day, experts say.
