Shayna Basler gets her revenge on Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam.
In real life, Baszler and Rousey are longtime friends, going back to their MMA careers where they trained together, with Rousey even coaching Baszler in combat. Ultimate Fighter. After her MMA career ended, Baszler transitioned to professional wrestling by joining WWE in 2017. Soon after, Rousey also made a permanent switch, and just like their MMA careers, Rousey achieved much more success much faster. In the WWE storyline, these tensions eventually came to a head, and on Saturday at SummerSlam in Detroit, Baszler and Rousey faced off in an MMA match in a WWE ring to work out their differences. And this time, Basler emerged victorious.
The two had a tepid fight that drew a lot of hoots throughout the fight, but made a few testimonials about Rousey’s MMA career when Baszler avoided Rousey’s infamous arm and also landed a headbutt that almost sent Rousey to the canvas. Eventually, Baszler was able to land a rear naked choke that quickly put Rousey to sleep, ending the fight with a technical submission.
This match is expected to be Rousey’s last in WWE for a while.
