Taylor Swift launches her new music video “Lavender Haze” and we explain the meaning of the clues she has left in the video

Taylor Swift sent a surprise gift to her fans, releasing the “Lavender Haze” music video.
The images came less than 24 hours after she announced it on Thursday morning. And since this is a Swift music video, there are plenty of clues that reference her past, lyrics, and possible future music releases from her.
Swift explained on Twitter shortly after the video’s release that it served as the mood board for the album. “This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released, and this really helped me conceptualize the world and the mood of midnightslike a sexy fever dream from the 70s. I hope you like it”, wrote.
Swift herself gave the meaning of “Lavender Haze” while discussing the song before its release. “Lavender Haze is track 1 on midnightsshe said in an Instagram video in October. “I came across the phrase when I was watching Mad Men. I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool. And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the 50’s where they would describe being in love. If you’re in the “Lavander Haze”, then that means you were in that all-encompassing loving glow. And I thought it was really beautiful.”.
He also explained his love of hiding clues from fans in his work in a statement he gave to Washington Post this october.“When I was 15 years old and put together my first album, […] I decided to encode the letters with hidden messages using uppercase”said. “This is how it started, and since then my fans and I have descended into color coding, numerology, word searches, elaborate suggestions, and clues (Easter Eggs). It’s really about turning new music into an event for my fans and trying to entertain them in playful, mischievous and clever ways. As long as they still find it fun and exciting, I’ll keep doing it.”
Here, all the tracks from “Lavender Haze” that have been identified and decoded by fans so far. You can watch the music video below.
The clock ticking midnight: very obvious, referencing his album and lyrics of Midnights“meet me at midnight“.

Swift’s “Mastermind” album: A possible hint of what could be the next single (and music video) of Midnights and another track apparently about his partner Joe Alwyn, which also inspired “Lavender Haze.” One fan also pointed out that the album art seems to make her Sagittarius star sign constellations align with Alwyn’s Pisces star sign.

The puff of smoke from the clock: a reference to the caterpillar’s Alice in Wonderlandthe pictures of the watch you have used to promote midnights. The back of their different album versions form a clock.

the koi fish refers to his guitar Speak Now: Swift also hinted in her “Bejeweled” music video that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) it was his next re-recording.

The 13 over Nashville, Swift’s home, in the weather report: the eagle-eyed Swifties were quick to pick up on the subtle call to Swift’s favorite number.

The midnight weather report, as Swiftie pointed out, is a reference to the album song “Midnight Rain.”

Swift referenced “Bejeweled” with her bejeweled table, one that Swiftie noted. Swift appears to be alluding to several clues. of Midnights and their lyrics in the video.
