Taylor Swift sparked some hilarious Barbie comparisons as she tripped on her toes after her Louboutin heel broke on stage.
The 33-year-old Bad Blood hitmaker was seen speaking to his Brazilian fans in Portuguese on Monday as he welcomed them to his show in Rio de Janeiro. Video Posted by a fan.
The clip shows her walking around wearing a pair of knee-high glitter boots – featuring Louboutin’s signature red soles – with only one heel still attached, while Taylor places her other foot up to bridge the gap .
The placement of her feet drew comparisons to Margot Robbie slipping out of her high-heeled slippers in the film Barbie, revealing that her feet are still as prominent as those of the iconic doll.
According to fan accounts on Twitter, the singer had to continue her remaining half of the song during the Lover era portion of the show, and at one point she completely broke the heel and threw it into the crowd.
The video’s caption reads, ‘She’s standing on tiptoes, like a real-life Barbie, with a broken heel.’
It appears that one lucky Swiftie caught hold of the glittering broken heel, and shared the image to her Twitter account.
“Taylor Swift is real life Barbie,” one fan wrote on Twitter, showing a comparison of Taylor and Margot’s feet.
“Taylor Swift (Barbie’s version),” another fan said.
Another said, ‘Taylor Swift is never living up to the Barbie allegations.’
Many others expressed similar sentiments, with one person writing: ‘This is proof Taylor Swift is Barbie.’
In Barbie, Robbie’s character’s feet arch just like the Mattel doll’s, until her heels fall off, setting her on a journey of self-discovery.
‘BAM WINDOWS AN ERAS TOUR, RIO!’ Taylor told her fans in the clip, before walking around with a pink guitar in her heels.
Swift wowed the crowd in a rhinestone-embellished fringe bodysuit paired with glitter shoes.
Monday night’s performance was a rescheduled event after Swift canceled Saturday’s show due to extreme temperatures in Rio de Janeiro.
Swift paid an emotional tribute to Ana Clara Benevides, who tragically died of ‘heart failure due to dehydration’ at the Eras Tour stop in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.
Paying respects to her late 23-year-old fan, the chart-topping global superstar performed her heartbreaking song, Bigger Than the Whole Sky, about mourning an untimely loss, as the show’s second surprise song .
As she went through some emotional days, including the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old Swiftie named Gabriel Milhom Santos and the death of superfan Allie Anderson after a five-year battle with cancer, the 12-time Grammy reflected on recent tragedies in her community. But the winner’s throat choked while mourning.
“Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye / You were bigger than the whole sky / You were bigger than a little time,” Swift sang, causing attendees to cry from their seats. ‘I was never gonna meet / What could have been, was what you should have been / What could have been, was you.’
The Amsterdam actress’s voice trembled as she tried to sing the song: ‘Did some force take you away because I didn’t pray?’
Other emotional verses include: ‘After this no words come to me/Salt runs out of my eyes and into my ears/Everything I touch becomes sick with sadness.’
On Friday, Benevides fainted in the front row and doctors at the scene gave her CPR, but were unsuccessful in reviving her.
He was taken to the hospital, where he suffered a second cardiac arrest and died.
Earlier during the show, Swift, who had to postpone Saturday’s show due to extreme temperatures, thanked all her attendees for supporting her despite the record-breaking heat and rain.
‘How lucky are you to have 65,000 people dancing with you in the pouring rain?’ he asked the crowd. ‘I never got a chance to visit Brazil before and you have been very supportive of me since the beginning of my career.’
Swift continued, ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to see your faces tonight that you can’t even imagine.’
Their second show, their first since Benevides’ death, comes at a time when Brazil is experiencing unprecedented heat and fans were reportedly not allowed to bring water to the highly anticipated concert despite the extreme temperatures.
Following Swift’s performance on Friday, fans claimed she was banned from carrying water into the venue, but this has not been confirmed.
Footage from her first concert in Brazil showed Swift pleading with stadium staff to give her fans water. At one point during the show, the singer stopped the program and threw a water bottle into the crowd.
A terrifying clip shared on TikTok showed Swift struggling to breathe as temperatures in the sand reached more than 37C. In the 11-second clip, Swift can be seen taking seven quick breaths before launching into another one of her hits.
Swift addressed her fan’s tragic passing that evening, writing that she was ‘devastated’ by the news.
‘I want to say now that I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This was the last thing I thought about when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.
‘I won’t be able to talk about this from the stage because when I try to talk about it I get overwhelmed with grief.’
Ultimately the star decided to postpone the performance due to ‘extreme temperatures’.
‘I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. “Due to the extreme temperatures in Rio, it has been decided to postpone tonight’s show,” he wrote via Instagram Story.
‘The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow cast and crew always comes first.’
