For a few days the current state of health of the gardener has been uncertain Yoennis Cespedes. The man from Granma is one of the main figures that make up the Cuban shortlist of 50 players from which the team that will represent Cuba in the upcoming World Baseball Classic will come out.
At the end of November, the 2013 and 2014 Major League Homer Derby champion was forced to leave the Águilas Cibaeñas team in the Dominican Winter League due to an injury to his right knee. These aggravating circumstances are not new for Céspedes, since his career in the Majors has always been affected by the continuous injuries that besieged him.
Currently, the two-time All Star and winner of a Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove in MLB is 37 years old and is willing to represent his country of origin in the World Baseball Classic (WBC). But his presence at this event was in doubt after some discomfort the veteran player had felt.

It seems that everything is going well with Céspedes and it is very possible that he will appear in the starting lineup of the Cuban team when Play Ball is announced in this expected tournament. According to journalist Oscar Sánchez (Granma newspaper) on his official Twitter account, the doctor for the Cuba team that will participate in the WBC 2023 told Granma digital that Céspedes is fully recovered and training at full capacity.
This is welcome news for Cuban fans wherever they may be. Having a talented and experienced player like “La Potencia” is wonderful. We already saw Céspedes wearing the four-letter uniform in the third edition (2013) of these tournaments. Enjoy your game again and the contribution you make to your team will be fabulous.
