The ‘après-ski’ phenomenon or how to dress fashionably in the snow (and on the asphalt), according to the trend setters

Each season, fashion offers us a bunch of new trends that govern our way of dressing over the following months. There are some that are very easy to follow, such as the colors or a certain fabric, but other inspirations are more complicated and require extra imagination when choosing a style according to them. This winter, one of these trends for gifted students is the ‘après-ski’.

‘Après-ski’ is a French term that we could translate as ‘after ski’ and that is the aspect that is sought to be in line with the dictates of fashion. This season it’s time to wear looks that seem taken from the most exclusive mountains, as if we had just parked our skis to return to our dream hotel to enjoy a good cup of hot chocolate.

These trends have jumped from snow to asphalt and it is very important know how to wear it correctly so as not to feel that we are in disguise or that we are not properly dressed for the occasion. Therefore, record these tips to wear the ‘après-ski’ look without fear.

Whatever the weather we have outside, the best way to keep warm this winter is down jackets in their most ‘oversize’ format, according to the ‘après-ski’ trend. If you want it to adapt to this fashion 100%, look for those with horizontal quilting and, if possible, with a belt at the waist, like the one in the image. Although we can find them in many lengths, we opted for the longest.

2. Ski pants

At the end of 2021, Miu Miu surprised everyone (and was ahead of the trends) with a collection inspired by clothing for sports in the snow, bringing out some lavender padded pants which quickly became a trend. If you want to get one, look for one that either has a quilted design or a technical fabric that repels moisture.

If we opt for the padding, these are usually quite wide, so we would have to compensate with a very thin sweater or one that is ‘crop-top’, like the one we see in the picture. In the event that it is tight to the body, a knitted sweater with a high neck in the same hue will be perfect.

3. Après-ski sweaters

Another of the essentials of this trend that we do not stop seeing everywhere are the sweaters with an alpine spirit. They are quickly recognized thanks to the fretwork and friezes with which they are decorated. Although the most traditional ones have decorations in the shoulder and chest area, we can also find them with the print everywhere. The best way to combine them is with some leggings and Ugg boots or yeti.

4. Snow boots

A quite characteristic element of this aesthetic are the snow boots or yeti type that, with the return of the y2k fashion, have returned to be relevant in the ‘street style’. These are boots that may or may not have a platform, in light colors such as beige, brown or white and usually have ropes and synthetic fur.

Being so big, we can combine them with leggings or skinny jeans, since the pants must go inside. Another option is with dresses and skirts, although these do not have to be summery to prevent the look from being too strange.

5. Fine high neck sweaters

If we talk about sweaters, beyond their colors and patterns we cannot fail to point out a very important detail in the ‘après-ski’ trend such as those of turtleneck, swan or perkins.

To combine it and follow this aesthetic, we can opt for the garments that we have mentioned before, such as ski pants, snow boots and a padded coat.
